What a nice surprise ... Top Agent

Jean Cohen began her real estate career 15 years ago, following a career in corporate marketing. When it was time for a change, she decided to switch to real estate, and hasn’t looked back. “I decided right at the start that I was just going to be myself,” Jean says. “That meant providing top-rated customer service and being there for my clients no matter what.”
As an agent with Engel & Völkers, Jean serves the South Shore of Massachusetts. About 95% of her business comes from repeat and referral clients, an impressive feat that speaks to the level of confidence and trust she inspires. “A Realtor® is part of your life from a very intimate standpoint,” Jean explains. “Sometimes you’re part of a person’s life for 6 to 8 weeks, and sometimes for the rest of your life. I become close friends with many of my clients.”
It’s easy to see why people keep coming back to work with Jean again and again. “I believe in following up and being part of people’s journey,” Jean says. “I am able to recommend attorneys, movers, or get painters in for my clients. I don’t just tell people what to do and stand back and wait, I actually provide the support people to help them. That’s especially important when clients are going through a major life change. My goal is to be there completely for them. The question on my mind is always, what is it that they need and how can I help them do that?”
When it comes to marketing her listings, Jean provides the full package. That includes professional staging and professional photography/video for every listing, as well as enhanced listings on all the major online platforms like Zillow, Realtor.com, and Trulia. Jean also advertises in local media and holds open houses to ensure maximum exposure.
Community involvement is important to Jean. She is passionate about town beautification, and is a member of two different garden clubs in two different towns. She also volunteers to raise money for the Special Olympics through her office, and she has done two different builds with Habitat for Humanity, one in New Orleans and one on the South Shore. When she is not working or giving back, Jean enjoys cooking, baking, gardening, and performing in local theater.
In the future, Jean says, “I would like to continue doing what I’m doing, but get better at it. I like being able to use all the new resources we have to help my clients, and every day I learn something new.” Above all, Jean plans to continue providing top-rate customer service. “I see beautiful houses all the time, but it’s the people who bring me the most joy,” she says. “Everyone’s home is their castle, and for most people it’s the single largest investment they’ll ever make. When you go to buy a house, you want to make sure you do it right. You need help putting your team together, and your real estate agent is the key to that. I tell my clients: I’m not going to tell you what to buy, I’m going to teach you to buy correctly so that you make an investment that’s going to pay you back for the rest of your life.”
